  • Why homeschool?
At Cedar Park, we understand that homeschooling is a popular option for many families. Homeschooling provides a unique opportunity for parents to tailor their son/daughter's education to their specific needs and interests. Unlike traditional schooling, there are no tests, no falling behind, no being held back and there is no peer pressure. It also allows for a more flexible schedule and can provide a safer and more comfortable learning environment. Homeschoolers can choose their own pathway and the only person that their learning impacts is themselves. We have witnessed time and time again a huge shift in attitude with our homeschoolers. Their self-motivation and independence become noticeable and from this comes resilience and a good work ethic. Homeschooling can be a challenging experience for many parents. Without the support and resources of a traditional school, parents may struggle to create a well-rounded curriculum or provide adequate socialisation opportunities for their son/daughter. Our experienced and highly skilled tutors can provide individualised support and guidance to homeschoolers, helping them to create a comprehensive and engaging curriculum. We also offer extracurricular activities and social events to help homeschoolers connect with their peers and form friendships. Whether you are a seasoned homeschooling family or just starting to explore this educational option, Cedar Park is here to help. Contact us today to learn more about our homeschooling services and how we can support your homeschooler's education.
  • Does Cedar Park cover the WA curriculum?
Cedar Park is committed to providing tutoring services that align with the Western Australian Curriculum. Our tutors are highly experienced teachers and are able to use the curriculum to teach skills and encourage in-depth learning. The skills that are taught go far beyond the school curriculum and provide homeschoolers with the tools needed for further education and the work force. We offer tutoring services for a range of subjects, including English, maths, science, and HASS at high school levels. Our tutors also work closely with homeschoolers to identify their individual learning needs and tailor their lessons accordingly. Options are available for the arts, technology, and health and physical education, although those areas will often also be encompassed within learning projects. At this stage, guidance can be offered for a second language. With Cedar Park, you can be confident that your son/daughter will receive the best possible education and support to help them reach their full potential.
  • Will my moderator requirements be met?
At Cedar Park, we understand the importance of fulfilling moderator requirements for our homeschoolers. Our experienced tutors deliver content according to the guidelines set by the Home Education Policy. You can rest assured that your son/daughter's academic needs will be provided for. Furthermore, we also offer guidance and support to help students to progress towards their personlised goals. We have tutors who have extensive experience in education and homeschooling, and have spent several years homeschooling their own children. We are able to work with parents to ensure that the requirements as outlined by the Department of Education WA are able to be met. Feel free to contact us for more information on how we can assist with your moderator requirements.
  • Is Cedar Park drop and go?
Parents and guardians are welcome to leave the premises but must remain contactable. Parents/guardians are welcome to stay onsite, however learning areas are exclusively for group learning.
  • What ages are catered for?
We tutor within the high school curriculum and our groups are organised by learning and social needs. Our minimum age is 10 years.
  • I am doing a TAFE/Uni online course but am still of school age. Am I able to join the Cedar Park community?
Cedar Park tutors are able to provide some support to those students new to TAFE and university courses and are still of school age. We strongly believe that a community is of utmost importance to everyone and open our doors to those who would like to be a part of our community.
  • How big are the groups?
Our core learning groups will be capped at 16 homeschoolers. The selected options may vary in group size depending on the activity and number of tutors available.
  • Can my child go to university if they have been homeschooled?
Absolutely! Homeschooling has become a popular and effective way of educating children, and many universities and colleges accept homeschooled students. In fact, access to university can often happen at a much younger age than traditional schooling allows, and alternative pathways are more common than the ATAR pathway.
  • What technology requirements do I need for Cedar Park tutoring sessions?
All members of our groups will require a laptop or tablet for the core options. Whilst mobile phones are able to be brought into the learning areas, we request that they are placed out of sight (details to be confirmed). Urgent messages may be sent to the tutors. Homeschoolers can have access to their phones at all times, however we expect full engagement throughout the sessions. Phone calls may be made outside of the learning areas. No use of cameras or videoing including audio may be made whilst at Cedar Park without the full knowledge of those involved and agreement of the tutors. Respect and safety are at the top of our priorities.
  • Do you have a timetable available?
We sure do! If you head over to the "Courses" page, you will find an example of our timetable for 2024 on there.
  • Where are you located?
Although it may look like our little paradise is in a remote location, we are in fact just 20 minutes south of the city. Our location is very easy for all to get to being just a few minutes away from Kwinana Freeway at the Cockburn exit.
